5 books I’ve read during quarantine

Being in quarantine has gotten me in the mood to get back into one of my favorite past times, reading ! I have been doing a lot of reading again, and it makes me so happy to explore new genres or jump back into my usual interests.

Here’s a list of the 5 books I’ve read during quarantine ranked in order.

5. Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng

If you have read “Little Fires Everywhere” or have watched the show, I feel this was the perfect book to start right after. It has a similar storyline to “Little Fires Everywhere” where it feels like it is picking up where the book/show left off.

A profoundly moving story of family, secrets, and longing, Everything I Never Told You is both a gripping page-turner and a sensitive family portrait, uncovering the ways in which mothers and daughters, fathers and sons, and husbands and wives struggle, all their lives, to understand one another.”

4.When We Believed in Mermaids by Barbara O’Neal

Once you get into this book you will be hooked. After her sister being dead for fifteen years, her sister, Kit, swears she sees her on tv!! I had a close relationship with my sister growing up, so this book really tore at my heart yet kept me turning page by page. It’s free to read on Kindle Unlimited.

3. Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng

2. Untamed by Glennon Doyle

Every now and again I have to take a look at Reese Witherspoon’s book club to see what she is reading. For April she was reading “Untamed” by Glennon Doyle and I could have not had read this book at any better time. I actually alternated between the audible and the Kindle ebook. It was very motivating to listen to Glennon Doyle’s story spoken so rawly and unapologetically.  It was an empowering book to me as a woman. I would recommend to people that need to hear a positive message.

1. Monday’s Not Coming by Tiffany D. Jackson

I did not know what I was getting myself into when I started this book. Once I started page one, I could not stop. The book was so relatable and the narrator is a brave young girl that you just want to know more about. She’s so naive, and I just fell in love with her character and her determination to learn what happened to her friend Monday. When you read this book, make sure you have the box of tissues next to you because you are doing to need them

As social distancing continues, I can’t wait to start adding books to start reading this summer.  Have you read any of the books in the list? What did you think of it?
