Poem: Egos That Bury Us by Jules

Don’t force the words out

Just let them flow through

Your veins like oxygen

Let the rhymes be the spine

That keeps you balanced

You will not stumble , You will not stutter

Stand strong on the two feet that raised you

From the ground up

The sky was never the limit

There was a galaxy waiting for you

But you wasted your time trying to align stars

That were hopeless when it came to granting

You that wish you stood up to every 11:11 and wished for

Why do we give so much hope to the things that rely on chance and luck

But the choices we can change by just changing the course of our attitude

Remain unattainable because us humans thrive off of our egos

Once bruised they will be the demise of our character

They will take our wounds and bind them in hopes that we will be damned to love each other again

What is this vicious cycle ?

Why do we walk in circles and wonder why we haven’t gotten much further

When will we draw a path never paved

And walk down it with pride and

Never once look back

Because what is doubt but the double edge sword

That keeps us crawling

Never letting us quite find our balance

Until it’s gravity we are thankful for

Because it is sometimes gravity that

Chooses to hold us up when

The world sees the truth

And knows that you should be

6 feet under

But keep letting that ego poke at you

And fill you with holes

That no one will ever be full enough to fill.

  1. I love this poem, but especially this part:

“The sky was never the limit

There was a galaxy waiting for you

But you wasted your time trying to align stars

That were hopeless when it came to granting

You that wish you stood up to every 11:11 and wished for”

Can’t wait to see what you post next! 😊
