Fairy tales are beautiful make believe stories full of princesses, princes, dragons, and other mythical creatures. Sometimes take place in a castle, forest, and small village.

Many of our favorite stories are fairy tales because they remind us of our childhood and being young. At least for me it reminds me of being young and watching all the movies and reading the books with my little sister.

As I was looking for a story to read to my daughter, I found “The Princess and the Pea” by Xanthe Gresham. Which is a classic tale of a sensitive prince in search for a bride.

As I was reading the story out loud to my daughter, I was having sooo many feels!

I love the twist of the story and how they use different interpretations of a princess through various cultures. It is important that children see that we can all be princess. Growing up I always found myself looking for the Disney princess that looked the most like me. It is great to see this in books.

To add on, the illustrations are gorgeous. The book is beautiful written and has rich language.

The story follows the tradition format of the princess having to lay on the piles of silk blankets and see if she feels the pea through the blankets. It has a touch of magic, mystery, and love.

What’ s your favorite fairytale?
