Book Review: “Snuff” by Chuck Palahniuck

I do not know where to start with this book but forget what you heard and just read the book! It is perfection. I loved it from beginning to end. Every page brought me so much insight about so many aspects of our day to day life. It has everything a book should have. It is a 200 page short read that takes you down the porn industry. Chuck Palahniuck does such a great job in bringing this story to life. The life lessons and themes that are addressed in this novel such as: sexism within the porn industry, gender roles, adoption, and children porn into the industry. It is not all that it is sought to be. You will see the behind the scenes from the perspectives of Mr. 72, Mr. 137, and Mr. 600. They will come to find how closely connected each person is. A deep story with a sick twist. 600 men line up, not specifically in order, to have sex with the famous porn star, Cassie Wright. Cassie Wright is prepared to break the record for most sexual partners in one day with the intention of proving that she could do it with dignity without being frowned upon by society. It is her dark story that brings the story to its center. She is one woman that is changing lives with just this very record she is promising to break.  This might be the very moment that Cassie has been waiting for to make her purpose known, but this is also the 5 seconds of fame that these men have been waiting for.

Another 5 Star Read for me. I’ve had a great summer reading list this time around. When I first started reading this book, I thought I would give it 3 stars or lower because I usually do not read “sexual” books, or books that talk about sex way too detailed because I just do not care to read books like that. (Yes, I was not a fifty shades of grey fan). I still decided to give this one a try because somewhere along the way I realized the true message of this book. Palahniuck spreads so much knowledge in this book. It is a book I will keep close to me always, and more than likely will re-read again.

Currently working on a Fall Reading List. Stay Tuned for those coming soon 🙂
